KNOXVILLE - As police converged on a 44-year-old man wanted by Texas authorities, the suspect reached into his pocket, pulled out a handgun and shot himself in the head.
Timothy Liess of Texas, died in the parking of the Extended StayAmerica, 1700 Winston Road, according to Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk.
DeBusk said Texas authorities alerted KPD that Liess was staying a the motel. Texas officials told Knoxville they would extradite Liess upon his arrest.
