Jonesborough resident claims image of Jesus appears in truck window

Published November 4th, 2009 | 35 Comments

Jonesborough resident Jim Stevens admits he’s not a particularly religious person, but even he is awed by what he has seen nearly every morning for the last couple of weeks on the driver’s side window of his Isuzu pickup truck.

It was two weeks ago today that an image, resembling the face of Jesus, made its first appearance on the window. Stevens, who said he has a “bum shoulder,” was having friends from Rogersville help move some items. He entered his truck from the passenger’s side to put his drink inside the vehicle. He said when he went around the truck to the driver’s side, the image was there. Initially, Stevens said he figured the image would go away and that would be the end of it.

But since it first showed up, a morning dew has led to the appearance of the image. Later in the day, when the dew from the morning evaporates, Stevens said the image goes with it. However, when the dew returns the next morning so does the image on the window. Even rolling the window up and down has not stopped it from reappearing.

wow, you think that was abuse?

i say worse stuff than that to my 5 year old and she laughs.

that is just pitiful.

Ken. Now I understand.

You write:

"Yes, there are a lot of religious leaders who do have dog and pony shows, they do tell people that if they send them money, GOD will give them a lot more. THIS my friend is not the GOD of the Bible."

"Yes I know GOD has promised me life everlasting...BUT for this life...HE has promised that those who place their trust in HIM will suffer persecution and more because they trust in the Christ of the Bible."

As long as you suffer HERE and are rewarded THERE it is ok and is the work of GOD. But if you are given rewards HERE in exchange for good works HERE it isn't the God of the bible, it is Satan. So you do things HERE not for a reward HERE but for a reward THERE and that makes it ok.

Your right. That's not hypocritical at all.

CommentMr Speare | 11/8/2009 - 10:29 AM - (CommentSuggest Removal )

JK if you think your verbal abuse to me will bother me, I have had a lot worse done and said to me. It will not bother me in the least but you can keep trying if you lilke

BTW, my wife and I have been married over 31 years and she fully supports what I am doing as her own brothers have had to face the injustice we work to stop. She has referred dozens of friends and family to us so truth does prevail inspite of your efforts to do otherwise.

CommentJK Long | 11/8/2009 - 2:23 AM - (CommentSuggest Removal )

Mr Speare there is nothing hypocritical about what I wrote. I do agree that a lot of people who call themselves Christians are hypocritical but there are a lot of fake $20 bills out there too so are you going to throw away all of your money because of the counterfeits?

Or could it be that you are one of the ones who think this entire universe exploded out of NOTHING to create everything?

Now to go over your reply line by line:

"The amazing thing is that GOD is able to make something intended for evil turn out for good to those who do trust in Him."

"...God later used him to save a nation..."

How is this hypocritical when I show how GOD used a false imrpisonment for good? If I did not state that, would you have asked how could someone being sent to prison for a crime they did not do be for their good?

"I trust because of what I see HIM do every day."

I do see GOD at work every day. I have personally seen people who were within moments of taking their own life accept Christ and now they have a reason to live. I have contacted one by instant messenger to tell her that GOD does love her when she asked how I could send her the message as her instant messenger was not even on as she was just about to take a major overdose.

I have talked to people on the phone when they hung up in anger because I said something very much like I am saying here only for them to find I was still on the line about 5 minutes later when I felt the Lord telling me not to hang up. Within moments, that person found the peace they had longed for all of their life but could not find.

"I did not need a genie.... I needed and found a savior.... a savior that is not into doing dog and pony shows!"

Yes, there are a lot of religious leaders who do have dog and pony shows, they do tell people that if they send them money, GOD will give them a lot more. THIS my friend is not the GOD of the Bible.

Can't you see how your fourth statement contradicts your first three? You are arguing that God performs miracles and works in people's life but does not perform miracles or work in people's lives.

No it is not contradictory. MOST of the miracles are not seen by human eyes. It is found deep within the troubled soul who finds the peace they could not find anywhere else but in Jesus Christ. Most mistake the getting of possessions, the new car, the so called healing of disease as proof that GOD did it...but I also know satan does these things to give people a false sense of security. Remember we are told that many will say Lord have we not healed the sick and cast out demons in your name and GOD will tell them to depart from HIM because HE never knew them.

Finally, just one more example. You write:

"I do not need new cars, healing from every disease I may have or promises of wealth untold."

Right. Then what do you think heaven is? I assume you believe that God promises you an eternal reward in the "kingdom of heaven" where there will be no more death or disease, right? But no, you don't need any promises like that.

Yes I know GOD has promised me life everlasting...BUT for this life...HE has promised that those who place their trust in HIM will suffer persecution and more because they trust in the Christ of the Bible. All but one of the Apostles were murdered for their faith. More people are being killed today for their faith in Christ then anytime in history. Jesus did not tell us we might suffer for His name....HE said we will suffer. Paul said the preaching of the Cross if foolishness to man and that is evident from some of the replies we see here.

You don't need a genie because you found a savior, a magical, invisible savior who will grant your wish of eternal life in a magical land in the sky, but definitely not a genie.

I do not NEED these things but God does give them to me anyway and I do appreciate it.

If you didn't need him to grant healings or prayer requests or to save you from eternal damnation, then why would you need him?

CommentJoe Lawson | 11/7/2009 - 6:02 PM - (CommentSuggest Removal )

Ken. What you wrote is a perfect example of the hypocrisy that pervades Christianity. Here are a few of your lines...

"The amazing thing is that GOD is able to make something intended for evil turn out for good to those who do trust in Him."

"...God later used him to save a nation..."

"I trust because of what I see HIM do every day."

"I did not need a genie.... I needed and found a savior.... a savior that is not into doing dog and pony shows!"

Can't you see how your fourth statement contradicts your first three? You are arguing that God performs miracles and works in people's life but does not perform miracles or work in people's lives.

Kudos Mr. Speare. Too funny.

And Sweetie, I totally agree with Mr. Whitewood, and have stated the exact statement many times. I have absolutely no desire to spend an eternity with the idiots who take this life for granted each day, spouting random phrases from a ragged book, refusing to accept the knowledge that man has worked so hard to uncover. These idiots refuse to live a single day of our precious short lifespan, waiting to croak because the "next life" is where its at. That has to be the dumbest and most blasphemous life to live to ANY deity, and if its not, I have no desire to hang out with him or her for eternity.

CommentEric Taylor | 11/7/2009 - 10:18 AM - (CommentSuggest Removal )

Doesn't sound like any god I'd want to worship. When he sent his son to visit us 2,000 years ago, he could have at least brought penicillin.

So why do we blame GOD for all the evil in the world? One of the greatest gifts GOD has given each of us is CHOICE! You have this choice and you chose to mock God but HE still loves you. Many others have chosen to do evil such as a major at Ft Hood recently.

The amazing thing is that GOD is able to make something intended for evil turn out for good to those who do trust in Him. Many years ago, a man was sold into slavery by his own family, and later accused of a rape he did not do by his boss's wife and then he was sent to prison. Throughout all of this, he still held unto his faith in God and God later used him to save a nation....and to save each of us if we trust in Christ. His name....Joseph.

Bottom line, I do not need to see things like in this article....I trust because of what I see HIM do every day. Job trusted although everything and everyone told him not to. I do not need new cars, healing from every disease I may have or promises of wealth untold. I did not need a genie.... I needed and found a savior.... a savior that is not into doing dog and pony shows!

Well, that's all the proof I need of God's existence. I've been converted.

But I still won't worship him. With all of the horrible suffering in the world, with innocent children dying of starvation and disease every day, the way he uses his infinite wisdom and power is by appearing on car windows and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Doesn't sound like any god I'd want to worship. When he sent his son to visit us 2,000 years ago, he could have at least brought penicillin.
