JOHNSON CITY — A Johnson City man is dead as the result of a motorcycle accident that occurred Thursday afternoon.
Police say 22-year-old Fletcher Dyer, 1809 Oakland Ave., was traveling west on Unaka Avenue at about 12:50 p.m., when he lost control and crashed. Dyer was thrown from the motorcycle and struck a parked car.
He was transported by ambulance to Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say excessive speed and rider inexperience contributed to the crash. An investigation by the Johnson City Police Department Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing.

I would like to comment to "The Big One Johnson" as well as everyone else that actually was not there and are making assumptions about this complete tragedy. I was there and I saw what happened. He may have been going over the speed limit, but not by much and I can promise you all this. It was a 30 mph zone. The fastest that could be possibly feasible is 40-45 mph max and I have a hard time believing that he was able to get up to that with the amount of cars on the road. The news reports have made it out to be as if he was just another wreckless boy on a motorcycle and this is so far from the truth. No, I did not know him personally but after meeting his family last night I did learn a lot about this young man. He was in his senior year of college almost ready to graduate, an amazing artist, responsible, and a loving son who is GREATLY missed. He had everything going for him. I am actually in the process of writing a letter to the editor about everything I saw that day. I encourage each of you to be on the look out for this article as well as read it. This young man was part of a very unfortunate tragedy. It was not his fault. He was not acting out or acting with stupidity. It was an unexplainable accident with the worst outcome possible. So to all that you that may have hurt this young man’s name and may have ridiculed him for the outcome of this accident, you should take a good look at yourselves. And to the rude and hurtful comments, did you ever think about how you were going to make his family feel when they read your hurtful comments. They are dealing with more than you could ever imagine and to know that their son has not been done justice by the media not publishing the full story. “The Big One Johnson,” I really think that you owe Mr. Dyer’s family a sincere apology. Everyone please keep this young man’s family in your prayers.
"The Big One Johnson" -- Obviously your johnson is not so big, else you wouldn't feel the need to make a blatant mockery of an extremely tragic end to a very young life. I went to school with Fletcher Dyer and he was getting ready to graduate and make something of himself. I find it excessively repulsive that you would in the same paragraph make a jest of the loss of a beautiful young man and then DARE to make a reference to Christ's "salvation". Jesus would be ASHAMED of you, sir. If you'd actually read the Bible, perhaps you might have noticed that Christ was all about compassion and showing love towards EVERYONE.
You disgust me. If it was your brother, son, daughter who had died in such a violent way, perhaps you'd keep your putrid, hateful ignorance to yourself. You'd better check your scripture, sir. You've obviously missed one too many Sunday school classes.
The rude comments about the unfortunate loss of my BEST FRIEND is heart breaking. THE BIG ONE JOHNSON, I am very hurt that anyone would talk about someone that had passed away like that. I hope you have a heart and understand what you said was wrong. He was my best friend and I miss him so much. I hope you understand the extra hurt you have given me. Everyone sees these comments so next time keep anything negative to yourself.
Explains why he can't spell, punctuate, capitalize "I" correctly and loves to type in all CAPS. It's okay, folks, BigUn probably thinks a "blooming idiot" is a first cousin to a "blooming onion". Cut the poor guy a break. LOL.
My thoughts exactly, C. K.
BIGGIN: "I was once part of the hard head party but after a few knocks to my head and a$$ I learned"
So... you're admitting to head trauma? That would 'splain a lot.
Hey "Big One"...where can I sign up for the seminar that you teach on "how to live the absolute perfect life without making any mistakes what-so-ever"?
By the way, "personal" is not spelled "personall"...Here's your sign.
Hey, thanks, big one, for proving who the blooming idiot was. That was easy.
HERES YOUR SIGN.
For the love of God, please shut up.
Its a known fact that everytime one of those blooming idiots gets on their cycles and rides like a bat out of heck and gets hurt or killed its always gets into the headlines look out for the cyclists as they are more vulnerable to getting hurt or killed by a car driver,so in that respect I say to you this one got caught and had HIS OWN DEMISE IN HIS OWN HANDS,ride on brother theres no more pain for you IF YOU KNOW JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONALL SAVIOR , IF NOT we all know the outcome.WE CAN NOT VERY WELL TELL HIM TO SLOW DOWN SO LET THE LESSON BE LEARNED BY SOMEONE WHO IS ABOUT TO RIDE PAST THEIR EXPEIRENCE AND TALENT .SLOOOOOW DOOOOWN SMELL THE AIR A LITTLE BIT LONGER AND have something to tell your grandkids and future generations about enjoying the ride not the fall...sorry to the family about the loss as i am sure they had told him to slow down several times but like all hard heads would not listen,I was once part of the hard head party but after a few knocks to my head and a$$ I learned
The big one, not only was your comment rude and insensitive, but also just kinda dumb, since there in nothing from the article or any other info out there that would lead anyone to believe that anyone would be sued.
Sorry to family and friends that have to read that, please be assured that it is obvious to all who regularly read this paper who the blooming idiot is.
RE: THE BIG ONE JOHNSON: Please have a little respect for the man's life who was lost while their family and the community he was a part of deals with his death. Hearing your son called a "blooming idiot" does not aid the grieving process. Thank you.
Heres a case where the driver of the four wheeler {car} will be sued because the parked the car in a legal spot and some blooming idiot wrecks and gets killed by the unmanned car parked and sitting still, minding its own business.LACK OF EXPEIRENCE AND SPEEDING does it everytime!!!RIDE TO LIVE LIVE TO RIDE term went right out the window for this guy....
