Dalton Doran, 18, and Jordan Johnson, 18.
A Kingsport attempted murder suspect — who allegedly shot a man numerous times in the upper neck and torso Friday night — has now been charged in the robbery of a 66-year-old Sullivan County resident four days prior.
The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office reports Dalton Doran, 18, of 1000 Stonegate Road, apartment D-14, has been charged in last Monday's incident at 3301 Princeton Road. The senior resident was knocked to the ground and robbed of money, according to police, before Doran and two other individuals fled the scene.
A second man charged in the robbery has been identified by police as Jordan Johnson, 18, of 1000 Stonegate Road, apartment K-14. The SCSO reports Johnson and Doran are charged with aggravated robbery, while an investigation in ongoing with additional charges pending.
In the Sullivan County incident the victim stated a woman knocked on his door and asked to use his phone. While she was on the phone two males — now identified as Johnson and Doran — allegedly walked into his home, with one asking to use his restroom.
When the man exited the bathroom he reportedly asked the resident where his money was located. The victim claims he was then hit in the face, knocked to the ground and covered with a curtain.
The suspects allegedly demanded money again, stating the resident would be harmed is he didn't comply with their demands. A police report says the resident directed them to a safe containing cash. The suspects also allegedly stole his wallet before running out of the residence, leaving the victim with bruises and abrasions.
The Sheriff's Office says numerous interviews, including statements from witnesses who saw the suspects flee the area, prompted the charges against Doran and Johnson.
Doran was in custody prior to the robbery charges in Sullivan County, as he was arrested Saturday by Kingsport police for attempted murder.
KPD investigators say that on Friday night Doran shot a man several times at Building K of Model City Apartments, 1000 Stonegate Road. The victim was transported to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper neck and torso.
An investigation allegedly revealed the shooter to be Doran, who was located and arrested near Holly Hills Apartment. KPD Det. Ed Ragsdale says that immediately before the shooting a fist fight had occurred between Doran and the victim, but he declined to comment on a motive. An investigation is continuing.
