Residents in a south Johnson City mobile home park tried to save their neighbor from her burning home Friday, but heavy smoke kept them from reaching her, according to fire officials who responded to the scene.
The call to 911 came in around 2:30 p.m. at Davis Mobile Home Park at 2807 S. Roan St. By the time firefighters were alerted and arrived on scene, it was too late for the woman.
“We arrived within four minutes,” said Johnson City Fire Capt. Lynn Peters. Firefighters encountered little fire, but a lot of smoke, he said.
