In nearly 30 years of marriage, with two grown children, a house and 6 acres, Sonny and Yvonne Hinkle of Knoxville have stuck together for richer or poorer. Lately, it’s been a little more of the second.
“It’s like we’re starting out all over again, when we were first married and had no money,” said Yvonne, who was laid off in September 2011 from her 18-year job as a processor in a national insurance chain’s call center. All the jobs were outsourced to India.
“It was heartless,” she said. “I was the major breadwinner, you see. It’s been very stressful.”
