Spectators who visit the show will have the chance to see the carousel animals and paintings in progress for the future Kingsport Carousel.
An exciting new event is coming to downtown Kingsport next month.
The City of Kingsport Office of Cultural Arts is hosting the Carousel Fine Craft Show, March 22-24, at the Kingsport Farmer’s Market. This first-time event in Kingsport will delight all ages and tastes with the wide selection of options available. This juried show of 20 exquisite quality exhibitors will showcase fine artists, artisans, craftspeople, photographers and printmakers. All of the work at the show will be original hand-made items of fine craft and/or art. Kingsport artisan Walt Turpening will jury all items.
Applications for exhibitors are available now through Feb. 28. For an exhibit application, go to http://www.arts.kingsporttn.gov/.
Along with the opportunity to view one-of-a kind art pieces, all spectators will have the chance to see the carousel animals and paintings in progress for the future Kingsport Carousel. The carousel animals are magnificent to see in person and the public is encouraged to interact with the carvers, painters and other volunteers on the day of the Fine Craft Show.
Once completed, the Kingsport Carousel will be located in the vicinity of the Kingsport Farmer’s Market.
A Gala Event will take place on Friday, March 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. This will serve as a special fundraiser for the Carousel Project. Tickets for the Gala Event are $35 per person and include an entry pass to the show for all days. The　Gala Event will include food, drinks, beer and wine for sale, with exclusive access to the Fine Craft Show, as well as Carousel Project volunteers, along with the carousel animals, paintings and carving demonstrations.
Times for the Fine Art Show are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 23, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, March 24. Tickets to the Fine Craft Show are $5 for one day or $7 for a two-day pass. Tickets for both are available at http://www.engagekingsport.com/.
