JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Hunter Harris scored 22 points and knocked down four key free throws late to help the East Tennessee State men’s basketball team down Atlantic Sun Conference foe Jacksonville 61-58 on Saturday.
Harris hit two foul shots with 1:04 remaining to snap a 55-55 tie. With the Buccaneers (10-20, 8-9) up 59-56, he blocked a shot by Jacksonville all-conference player Keith McDougald, corralled the loose ball and was fouled.
Harris made the following two free throws to ensure victory. For the game, he shot 8-for-10 from the foul line and 7-of-10 from the floor.
“Just the play of the game by Hunter Harris,” said ETSU coach Murry Bartow. “That was one of his best performances of the year — no doubt. But it wasn’t just Hunter. Our entire team contributed tonight and I’m proud of the way we bounced back on the road to win a game.”
Jarvis Jones added 11 points and Mario Stramaglia 10 off the bench for ETSU.
The Dolphins (14-15, 9-7) struggled mightily from deep, hitting just one of their 14 3-point attempts.
McDougald — who went into the game leading the A-Sun in 3-point shooting at 48.3 percent in league play — hit just 1 of 7 treys and finished with 11 points against the Bucs.
Kordario Fleming led Jacksonville with 18 points and Jarvis Haywood added 11.
The loss dropped the Dolphins to 9-2 at Veterans Memorial Arena this season.
