Sevier County basketball player charged with domestic assault after game with South; status uncertain for D-B game

Sevier County High School basketball star Devin Schmidt was charged with domestic assault and jailed Saturday night because of an alleged incident with his 15-year-old girlfriend, according to a Mountain Press story.

Meanwhile, the 18-year-old’s status for Tuesday’s region semifinal playoff game against Dobyns-Bennett is uncertain.

The Mountain Press reported on its website Sunday, after obtaining a copy of a warrant for Schmidt’s arrest, that the warrant was sworn out by the father of the 15-year-old female who Schmidt allegedly assaulted.
