A motorist who struck a utility pole in Kingsport has been arrested by police, who say prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia were located in her totaled vehicle.
The incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m., Tuesday in front of 896 Lynn Garden Drive. Kingsport police say a southbound 1992 Honda Accord left the right side of the road and jumped the curb, striking a large wooden utility pole.
Bethany Nichole Forbes, 25, of Milburton Road, Chuckey, Tenn., was identified as the driver of the car. She was transported to the hospital by Sullivan County EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.
As police processed the scene of the crash "multiple prescription drugs" were allegedly located in Forbe's vehicle, along with drug paraphernalia. Police say further investigation led them to believe she was under the influence when the incident occurred, prompting her arrest following her release from the hospital.
Forbes is charged with DUI, driving on a revoked license, possession of a legend drug without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of registration and driving without insurance. She was booked into the city jail.
