Kristin Leigh Sturgill and Keith Stephen Parker were married Aug. 30, 2013, at The Excellence Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Judge Hal Revercomb officiated the 3 p.m. beach ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Bobby and Elaine Sturgill of Kingsport, Tenn., and the granddaughter of Geraldine Sturgill of Kingsport, the late Rev. Jack Sturgill, and J.L. and Joy Leonard of Mount Carmel, Tenn. The bridegroom is the son of Steve and Melissa Parker of Fredericksburg, Va., and the grandson of the late Meryl and Vennie Parker, formerly of Kingsport, and the late Benton and Geneva Thompson, formerly of Knoxville, Tenn.
Jane Anne Sutphin, friend and sorority sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Tricia Parker, sister-in-law of the bride and bridegroom, served as a bridesmaid.
Steve Parker, father of the bridegroom, was best man. Dale Parker, brother of the bridegroom, served as a groomsman.
Readers were Dr. Bryan Thompson, uncle of the bridegroom, and Michelle Cassedy, aunt of the bride. A dinner and dancing reception was held following the ceremony at Las Olas on the resort overlooking the beach.
Kristin received a bachelor of science degree in mass communications from East Tennessee State University in 2004 and is employed as a Corporate Communications representative at Eastman Chemical Company.
Keith received a master of science degree in industrial and systems engineering from Virginia Tech in 2005 and is employed as a supervisor in Information Technology at Eastman Chemical Company.
Following their honeymoon in Punta Cana, the couple now resides in Piney Flats, Tenn.
