Crockett takes another win in Gatlinburg

GATLINBURG — Nolan Street knocked down five 3-point shots in the second half as part of a game-high 27 points to lead David Crockett to a 71-65 overtime over Landrum (S.C.). Caleb Eaves totaled 20 points and Colton Mullis accounted for nine as the Pioneers continued their strong start to the season. Noah Dodd and A.J. Lindsey scored 19 points apiece to lead the Cardinals. Cherokee 58, West Greene 49 ROGERSVILLE — Landon Jeffers posted a 15-point effort as the Chiefs won in their Big H tournament. Isaiah Jones scored 12 and Braxton Markham ended with eight points. Ayden Lamons led West Greene with 14 points and Josiah Dawson totaled 13. Buchholz (Fla.) 60, Tennessee High 48 GATLINBURG — Lucas Bhatia scored 18 points and Jamison McTureous added 11 as the Bobcats bested the Vikings. Reed Miller had 25 points to pace Tennessee High, which lost for the first time this season. GIRLS Cherokee 62, Cloudland 42 ROGERSVILLE — Freshman sensation Kenady Deal tallied a game-high 27 points and Addie Lawson scored 16 as the Lady Chiefs put down the hammer in the Big H tournament. Makinna Shell led the Lady Highlanders with 14 points. Eowyn McCoury netted nine for the Roan Mountain girls. Sullivan East 50, Happy Valley 32 ROGERSVILLE — The Lady Patriots held the Lady Warriors in single digits all four quarters for the win. Sophie Johnson led East on the offensive end with 17 points. Audrey Easley with nine was next highest scorer. Ashlyn Sommers led Happy Valley with 11. Thursday's Games David Crockett 84, Cordova (Ala.) 55 GATLINBURG —Caleb Eaves led the charge, pouring in a game-high 27 points for Crockett. Aden Britton and Colton Mullis each scored a dozen points, Nolan Street added 11, and Lukas Easterling posted 10 points. Josh Harrison erupted for 24 points to lead the Blue Devils. Providence Academy 82, Cumberland Gap 49 JOHNSON CITY — Knights head coach George Pitts surpassed the 850-win mark at the high school level with Thursday's result. Freshman Gavin Winfrey led the way with 20 points. Luke Gilmer netted 17 points, Mason Morgan scored 15, and Cole Blanton chipped in a dozen. Brady Harris posted a game-high 29 points for the Panthers. Tennessee High 62, Harlan County (Ky.) 42 GATLINBURG — Braden Howard and Reed Miller both had their way to open the Smoky Mountain Classic, each going for a game-high 19 points. Russell Blevins also reached double-figures for Tennessee High, pouring in 13 points. Cherokee 65, University High 49 ROGERSVILLE — Isaiah Jones knocked down three triples as part of a game-high 18 points for the Chiefs. Gavin Lawson also reached double-figures with a 15-point performance. Janson West posted 13 points for the Buccaneers, while Ty Templin added 12 points and Knox Poston netted 10. GIRLS Cloudland 58, Sullivan East 32 ROGERSVILLE — The Lady Highlanders opened the contest on a 20-2 extended run to seize control of the contest early. Makinna Shell scored 14 points to lead the Cloudland offense, who moved to an 11-1 record. Emma Whitaker accounted for half of the Lady Patriot points, going for 16 points. Unicoi County 58, West Orange (Fla.) 22 WINTER PARK, Fla. — The Lady Blue Devils defense kept a stranglehold on the game, not allowing more than eight points in any quarter. Abigail Vidrio topped the scoring efforts with 15 points. Laney Rogers made four triples on her way to 14 points and Brooklynn Sparks posted 13 points. Chakayla Scott led the Lady Warriors with a dozen points. West Greene 60, University High 29 ROGERSVILLE — The Lady Buffaloes started the game with a 12-0 run and UH couldn't dig out of the hole. Emma Linkus was the Lady Bucs' leading scorer with 11 points. Twin Springs 40, Union 36 NICKELSVILLE — Emma Ross buried six 3-pointers as she racked up a game-high 25 points. No other Lady Titan reached double-figures, but the next-highest scorer was Addi Lee with eight. Katelynn Wilt had 14 points for the Lady Bears.
