Acclaimed singer-songwriter and storyteller Chuck Brodsky will perform an evening of music and stories at The Jackson Theatre. The Jackson Theatre will host acclaimed singer-songwriter and storyteller Chuck Brodsky on Saturday, Jan. 24, with the performance scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., according to a press release from the Town of Jonesborough. Often described as a modern-day troubadour, Brodsky is known for carefully crafted songs and narrative-driven performances that focus on underdogs, everyday heroes and moments of quiet significance. His work blends humor and candor, frequently offering gentle social commentary while remaining grounded in personal truth and lived experience, according to the release. During a career spanning nearly three decades, Brodsky has performed at festivals, theaters and concert halls throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. He has appeared three times at the National Baseball Hall of Fame, where 22 of his baseball-themed story songs are archived in the Hall of Fame's sound recording library, a distinction that reflects his unique ability to merge American storytelling traditions with music. A native of Philadelphia, Brodsky developed an early passion for songwriting, drawing inspiration from artists including Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Jackson Browne and Bruce Springsteen. His songs have been featured in film and television projects such as "Radio, Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story" and "Richie Ashburn: A Baseball Life." His work has also been recorded by a range of artists, including Kathy Mattea and David Wilcox. Brodsky's most recent album, "Gravity, Wings, and Heavy Things," continues his tradition of thoughtful storytelling and character-driven songwriting, according to the release.
