JC Library to host program on Nutrition on a Budget

Here's a look at what is happening this week at the Johnson City Public Library. FOR CHILDREN Middle Grade Graphic Novel Club will meet Monday at 6 p.m. in the library's Jones Meeting Center. Ages 8-12 will learn about the graphic novel format. Registration is required at jcpl.org/events. Babies & Books will meet Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. in the library's Jones Meeting Center. It is recommended for ages birth-2 years and their caregivers. No registration, but space is limited; pick up a ticket at the Children's Desk when you arrive. Read & Romp will meet Wednesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the library's Jones Meeting Center. It is recommended for ages 2-3 years and their caregivers. The program includes music and shorter stories. No registration. Little Listeners will meet Wednesday and Thursday at 11 a.m. in the library's Storytime Room. It is recommended for ages 3-5 years and their caregivers. No registration, but space is limited; pick up a ticket at the Children's Desk when you arrive. Little Musicians will meet Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the library's Jones Meeting Center. Ages 3-5 will learn about music from Johnson City Symphony Orchestra members. No registration. READing Paws will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, from 11 a.m. to noon. Ages 5-10 can be registered for a private 15-minute time slot to read to a trained listening dog in the library's Storytime Room. Registration is required at jcpl.org/events. FOR TEENS Teen Homework Cafe will be held Monday from 3-5 p.m. in the library's Teen Space. Ages 12-18 can work on their homework. Library staff will be available to help find research materials, and snacks will be provided. No registration. Teen Book Club will meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the library's Jones Meeting Center. Ages 12-18 will discuss "Shadow and Bone" by Leigh Bardugo. The first 10 teens who register will get a free copy of the book to keep. Registration is required at jcpl.org/events. FOR ADULTS Adults with Disabilities Storytime will meet Monday at 11 a.m. in the library's Jones Meeting Center. Adults with disabilities and their caregivers will hear stories and do activities. No registration. Nutrition on a Budget will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. in the library's Jones Meeting Center. ETSU's Whitney Bignell will share expert tips for planning and making nutritious, affordable meals at home. Registration is required at jcpl.org/events. Spanish at Your Library will meet Thursday at 6 p.m. Anyone ages 18 and older can join the conversation group to practice Spanish language. All skill levels are welcome. The group meets in the library's Jones Meeting Center. No registration. Chess Club will meet Friday at 5 p.m. in the library's Jones Meeting Center.
