Eastman, Landair recognize three drivers for safety performance

KINGSPORT — Eastman Chemical Co. and Landair recently honored three professional drivers for safety and operational excellence in the industry. According to a release from Eastman, Doug Stevenson and Randall "Randy" Bundy were recognized as members of Covenant's 40 Club, which honors drivers achieving one million consecutive miles without a preventable accident. Landair is a Covenant Logistics Group company. Harrison Harville achieved membership in Covenant's 80 Club, which is for drivers with two million consecutive safe miles. These milestones reflect years of disciplined driving, constant vigilance and a shared commitment to safety. "Reaching one million and two million accident-free miles is no small feat," Paul Bunn, president of Covenant Logistics, said in the release. "We are thankful for the example these drivers set every day." As Landair drivers, Stevenson, Bundy and Harville drive exclusively for Eastman. The release states less than two percent of career drivers reach this level of performance, and having multiple drivers from the same location reach this milestone is "even more exceptional." "Safety is foundational to Eastman's operations, and our commitment to a zero-incident mindset approach to safety extends from our Eastman teams and manufacturing sites to our suppliers and distribution vendors along the supply chain," Julie McAlindon, Eastman senior vice president and chief supply chain officer, said in the release. "Safety is a responsibility that belongs to each of us. It's about teams coming together every day. We cannot achieve that goal alone, and we are grateful for trusted partners like Covenant-Landair." One million miles is described in the release to be equivalent to traveling around the Earth 40 times. Two million miles equals 80 times around the Earth. "It takes all of us," Harville said at a joint ceremony hosted by Eastman and Covenant-Landair, per the release. "From the frontline drivers and support staff to the leadership teams, it's a team effort. I appreciate every one of you."
