Kingsport Economic Development Board recognizes Bob Feathers

KINGSPORT — Bob Feathers, a longtime Kingsport Economic Development Board member, was honored with a special recognition during Tuesday's meeting. Kingsport Mayor Paul Montgomery presented Feathers with a framed proclamation commemorating May 12, 2026, as Bob Feathers Day. He thanked Feathers for all he has done for the city of Kingsport and around the region. While Feathers is stepping down from his role with the board, he said he plans to remain involved in the community. "I'm very honored, and thank you so much," Feathers said. "I could think of no other community to live in and want to serve. And I'm fortunate that I had a dad that also believed that stewardship is very important in our lives growing up, and was instrumental in a lot of things in town." According to the proclamation, Feathers serves as CEO and president of Workspace Interiors, a commercial furniture and interior firm with offices in Kingsport, Knoxville and Chattanooga. Feathers was appointed to KEDB in 2000 and has continued to serve on the board for more than 25 years. Montgomery, while reading the proclamation, said Feathers was KEDB chairman from 2009 to 2014. He was inducted into the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame in 2024, and served as the chair for the Kingsport Chamber Board of Directors in 2018. The proclamation mentions Feathers was a part of the Mountain State Health Alliance board for more than 20 years. "I, Paul Montgomery, mayor of city of Kingsport, and on behalf of [the Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen], do hereby proclaim May 12, 2026, as Bob Feathers Day in the city of Kingsport and encourage all citizens to join in honoring this dedicated business and community leader who serves as an inspiration to all of us," Montgomery said. Miles Burdine, Kingsport Chamber president and CEO, also gave Feathers a personal commemorative coin to thank him for his efforts.
