United Breast Cancer Foundation, Health Wagon hold free mattress giveaway for breast cancer patients

WISE — The Health Wagon and United Breast Cancer Foundation will soon hold their second free mattress distribution giveaway breast cancer patients and survivors. UBCF will provide free therapeutic queen-size mattresses to approved breast cancer patients and survivors. The Southwest Virginia part of the giveaway will be Aug. 3 to Aug. 7 at the Health Wagon facility at Wise. Once approved, patients need only call ahead to arrange to pick up their mattresses at the Health Wagon. Times for pickup will be scheduled once appointments are made. The mattress giveaway is open to individuals nationwide. Patients and survivors do not need to reside in Virginia but must be able to pick up their mattress in person. "Rest and recovery are vital parts of the healing process," said Health Wagon Vice President and Clinical Director Paula Hill-Collins. "This partnership with UBCF allows us to ease a financial burden for survivors while providing them with a resource that directly supports their health and well-being." To be considered, applicants must first complete the UBCF questionnaire. Approved individuals will receive further instructions via email from UBCF — GIKapplications@ubcf.org — within seven business days. Supplemental documentation, including a HIPAA Compliant Authorization form, will also be required for final approval.
