Bill assistance program offers application aid in September

The Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency will host several outreach events in September for its Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. LIHEAP helps low-income households with their home energy bills, including electric, gas and more. The federally funded program's assistance ranges from $174 to $750. This money goes directly to utility companies on behalf of approved applicants. Applications are open at thda.org/liheap. Applicants must have an email address and be at or below 60% of the state median income. For a single-person household, this is less than $2,671 a month, according to a UETHDA press release.
