ROUNDUP: Science Hill, D-B volleyball remain 1-2 in district after wins

BRISTOL, Tenn. — No individual standouts when it comes to statistics, just another straight-set win for the District 1-AAA leading Science Hill volleyball team. The Lady Hilltoppers remained undefeated against Tennessee teams this year with Tuesday's 3-0 victory at Tennessee High (25-14, 25-13, 25-13). Lucy O'Daniel dished out 31 assists and served five of the Lady Hilltoppers' 13 aces. Clara McBride led the balanced offense with nine kills, followed by Bryleigh Scott's seven with six apiece from Chloe Conner and Sofia Pavlovich. Conner and Claire Lamb served three aces apiece, and Isa Dau had two in addition to her team-high 11 digs. Lamb and Conner tallied seven and six digs respectively. Dobyns-Bennett 3, West Ridge 0 KINGSPORT — The Lady Indians stayed just one game off the lead in District 1-AAA with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-20 win over West Ridge. Kami Clark had six kills to lead West Ridge. Katherine Hortenstine and Adalynn Massie (7 digs) both had seven assists, Analee Horne made a team-high eight digs and Nila Horne served two aces. Daniel Boone 3, David Crockett 0 JONESBOROUGH — Kale Broyles and Ellaleigh Baker slammed eight and seven kills respectively as Daniel Boone won two hard-fought sets before completing the straight set win 26-24, 25-23, 25-14. Kayla Farmer handed out 15 assists with 10 digs for a double-double, and Cambree Kite served four aces with Evie Byrd recording a team-high 12 digs. Baker and Broyles also combined for five blocks, with Sidney Kestner matching Kite's eight digs. Ella Riddle led the Lady Pioneers with five kills, with Aolonah O'Dell dishing out 12 assists to go with her two service aces. Lily Mango served a team-high three aces while matching Samantha Bogart with a team-best five digs. Sullivan East 3, Elizabethton 1 ELIZABETHTON — Makayla Moore and Audrey Easley both had double-doubles for the Lady Patriots, who overcame a slow start to built a two-game lead in District 1-AA with a 22-25, 25-12, 25-23, 25-20 win. Moore hammered 21 kills with a team-high 16 digs as well as two blocks, while Easley slammed 11 kills and matched Bella Pickering with 13 digs. Jillian Fisher, who tallied 41 assists, and Easley both served four aces, and Addison Pierson tallied seven kills. Emily Kelley and Fisher had seven digs each. Volunteer 3, Grainger 0 CHURCH HILL — The Lady Falcons not only avenged an earlier loss to Grainger, but pulled into a first-place tie in the District 2-AA standings with Tuesday's sweep 25-21, 25-19, 25-18. Elisabeth Byington and Hannah Pendleton led the offense with 14 and 10 kills respectively, with Raylie Gray handing out 30 assists to go with her five digs. Abby Haynes and Trinity Brown had seven digs each, and Emma Williams blocked three attacks while Brown served three aces. Providence Academy 3, The King's Academy 0 JOHNSON CITY — Quinn Wells and Madi Hatfield led a balanced effort with eight and seven kills respectively, as the Lady Knights took down their district opponents 25-17, 25-19, 25-14. Ella Grace Burton served five aces, and Alison Berry totaled 11 digs. Twin Springs 3, Holston 0 HOLSTON — Meadow McConnell slammed 21 kills with eight digs, and Bella Lawson had 28 assists to lead Twin Springs over Holston 25-9, 25-12, 25-19. Addison Counts made a team-high 33 digs and served four aces, with Natalie Greear adding nine digs. Ridgeview 3, Gate City 0 GATE CITY — The Lady Wolfpack took a 25-18, 25-12, 25-20 win at Gate City on Tuesday. Mollie Sexton laid down eight kills, and Braylie Chaffin had six while Ava Jennings had four along with four assists and 14 digs. Ava Mullins and Mattie Kimbler totaled eight and seven digs respectively, with Sophie Webb adding six along with 12 assists. GIRLS SOCCER Science Hill 9, West Ridge 0 BLOUNTVILLE — Brenna Overbay and Chloe Dishner both scored two goals and assisted another as the Lady Hilltoppers remained undefeated in District 1-AAA. Emily Strode and Allie Conner both found the back of the net twice, and Ella Woodson rounded out Science Hill's scoring. Addie Meeks dished out two assists with one apiece from Lexi Davis, Kenzie Moore and Haley Meek. Tennessee High 5, Dobyns-Bennett 1 KINGSPORT — The Lady Vikings outshot D-B 17-4 at Indian Highland Park to avenge an earlier loss. Vivie Murphy scored twice and assisted another. Kadyn Kemmerer, Amelia Smith and Finley Hampton each found the back of the net, and Harper Gurley had one helper. Mariah Skeens saved three of D-B's four shots on goal. Brooklyn Pickup scored for the Lady Indians, and Kaylee Menya made 12 saves. Daniel Boone 7, David Crockett 0 GRAY — Briley Barker's hat trick led the Lady Trailblazers to victory over their county rivals and kept them in a second place tie in the District 1-AAA standings. Sophie Ashby, Chanel Hurley, Keirah Lynch and Sophia Shropshire scored one goal apiece. Harley Barker and Ashby dished out two assists each with Hurley, Rheagan Lothridge and Avery Ellis each tallying one. Claire Marshall and Ava Thomas combined for the shutout win in goal. Alli Orren made 17 saves for the Lady Pioneers. Volunteer 5, Claiborne 0 CHURCH HILL — Teagan Morelock's hat trick led the Lady Falcons to a District 2-AA triumph. Raya Kochemba scored one goal and assisted another, Emily Walker found the back of the net and Ansley Glass dished out an assist. Khloe Sanders recorded the clean sheet in goal. University High 4, Pigeon Forge 1 JOHNSON CITY — Charlotte Williams' hat trick kept the Buccaneers undefeated for the season and in firm control of first place in District 1-A. Adeline Belanger scored University High's other goal, and Harper Poston earned the win in goal. Pigeon Forge's lone score came on a penalty kick. Chuckey-Doak 3, Sullivan East 1 BLUFF CITY — Paisley Patrick scored the Lady Patriots' goal with Val Velasquez on the assist. Sara Doss made 12 saves for East. Morristown East 5, Unicoi 0 ERWIN — Zoey McCurry made 10 saves for the Lady Blue Devils, but Unicoi County couldn't connect.
