KINGSPORT — Kingsport police and other emergency responders came out in force at the Allandale Falls Apartments in the Hawkins County portion of the city Saturday morning and early afternoon, responding to what police called a "critical incident." However, the department announced before 2 p.m. that the incident has been "resolved without loss of life" and that further details would come later. "The critical incident around Allandale Falls has been resolved without loss of life," the second statement said. "The public safety concern has been resolved, and residents/citizens may return to the area. Our officers are clearing the scene, and we thank the public for their understanding, as well as the Kingsport Fire Department and Sullivan County Emergency Medical Services for their assistance. "While the all-clear has been given, we will not release any names, potential criminal charges, or further information at this time." Kingsport Police Department Public Information Officer Brandon Arnold mid-day Saturday said the situation at that time was ongoing and urged people to stay away from the area in the Allandale section of western Kingsport. "Mostly we just need the public to stay away from the situation until it is resolved," Arnold said in a brief phone interview, adding that no additional information was available as of shortly after noon. Aside from police vehicles, Kingsport Fire Department trucks and at least one Sullivan County Emergency Medical Services ambulance were at the scene. The complex is at 1000 University Blvd., across Stone Drive from Holston Army Ammunition Plant. "The Kingsport Police Department is currently on scene at a critical incident in the Allandale Falls area," according to a post on social media by the department. "This incident is active and ongoing. Our officers are addressing the situation, and we ask the public to avoid the area until it is resolved. We will provide additional information as it becomes available. According to a Facebook post from the apartments: "As most are probably aware there is a large police presence on the property currently. This is an isolated incident that they are working to resolve. There are no threats to the community at this time."
